Choosing the right pre-school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make in their educational journey. Qualified early childhood education teachers provide a safe, stimulating and supportive environment where your child can grow socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. Kgaswe pre-school aim to capture children's natural love of learning while developing literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for future learning.
The curriculum in the reception classes builds on the early learning programme. It provides fun and exciting learning opportunities that further develop important skills, knowledge and attitudes to learning. The pre-primary programmes allow children to develop independence, confidence, curiosity, friendships, cooperation and resilience.
The boys and girls, who enter Kgaswe Pre-school from two and a half years, have their own daily routine and are taught by a team of experienced and fully qualified staff.
They are taught the basics of responsibility which develops self-discipline and a caring attitude to others. In the Pre-Primary school we offer a broadly based curriculum paying attention to the foundation skills for reading, writing and number work.
The guidelines for creative learning are followed and every child benefits from a friendly environment, where he or she will receive close personal attention and a considerable amount of encouragement.
Our youngest pupils are fortunate in having plenty of exercise space in the gardens, game fields and adventure playground which surrounds the classrooms.
The Pre-school follows a holistic development programme with a special focus on English language development. Children spend the first part of their day in their classes doing age group related activities. After a mid-morning, snack break they move into an integrated programme where various skills development activities are set up around the pre-school. The formal day ends at mid-day but many children stay on for aftercare in the afternoon. Children graduate to Std One no earlier than 5½ years of age and only when they are school ready.
