Sylvester Kununka Kidney Fund Appeal

A little friend in need
Sylvester Kununka a 10 year old student at Kgaswe School in Palapye, is in renal failure and is in urgent need of a kidney transplant, his Std 4 classmates have made it their goal to raise enough funds for him to have his surgery as soon as possible.

OVERVIEW: The Kununka family have been part of our community for many years. Their 10 year old son Sylvester, is in kidney failure and needs a transplant as soon as possible. His mother has agreed to donate one of her kidneys, however, the medical aid will only pay for the recipient and not for the donor. The transplant needs to happen as soon as possible as he already has to have three sessions of dialysis every day.

Sylvester has been a student at Kgaswe for nearly five years and his siblings are also past Kgaswe pupils. As a school we would like to try and assist the family with the huge expenses they have ahead of them. We have opened a “Sylvester Kununka Fund” account at FNB and together with our students and P.T.A, are going to try and help Sylvester to get well and hopefully have the operation that will enable him to be a normal little boy again. We are managing the appeal in conjunction with BOMaid. The operation alone will cost around P150,000.00 and this our initial target.
